FAQ: errors when testing IIA

The mlogtest, iia command generates the error:

no common coefficients names (eq:coeff)
specify -equation(matchlist)- for the problem of different equation names
r(498);

This is an error generated by the command hausman which is used by mlogtest. It is most often caused by having spaces or other unusual non-alpanumeric characters in your value labels. Try changing your value labels. (Note: hausman is written by Stata Corp and is not part of SPost; we have reported it to Stata's Technical Support). While such labels are generally supported in Stata commands, we find that some commands breakdown if the value labels contain things other than letters, numbers and _. 2007-06-24
